News has always found ways to travel. Whether it’s by word of mouth, printed and handed out on street corners, or broadcast over the airwaves of technology, it has long been a source of information for people.
However, over the years it has become an industry that no longer prides itself on truth and merely getting the word out so that citizens are aware of what is going on. Now, it is used as a source of opinions, biased in one direction or another, to rally them to their cause, whatever that may be.
And while voicing our opinions is a right we all have, there is a time and place for it. The front-page of a well-circulated newspaper is neither. And it seems that the Washington Post didn’t get that memo or simply no longer cares.
On Sunday, ABC News’ White House correspondent Karen Travers shared a front-page paragraph from the Post headlined “Trump’s Ukraine Call Reveals A President Convinced of His Own Invincibility.” And if the title gives you any inclination about the contents of the article, you can see it utterly biased as anti-Trump.
The rant written by Robert Costa, Philip Bade, and Rachel Bade read:
“Trump’s sense of himself as above the law has been reinforced throughout his time in office. As detailed in the Mueller report, he received help from a foreign adversary in 2016 without legal consequence.
He sought to thwart the Russia investigation and possibly obstruct justice without consequence. Through the government, he has earned profits for his businesses without consequence. He has blocked Congress’s ability to conduct oversight with consequence.”
However, there are just a few things, wrong with this paragraph. Oh, wait, everything in this is incorrect. Blatantly incorrect. In fact, every single point that is made to accuse Trump is something that has been done by one of his opponents.
Let’s go through them one by one.
“Trumps sense of himself as above the law has been reinforced throughout his time in office.”
However, no other president in the history of our nation has been treated with so much obvious disdain. Even before the election, his campaign was spied on.
And when he won things only got worse. More than 70 Democrats from Congress actually refused to go to his inauguration. He was and has been treated as a criminal and one below the law since the announced of his candidacy.
“As detailed in the Mueller report, he received help from a foreign adversary in 2016 without legal consequence.”
It’s clear that none of the three biased writers actually read the report nor listened to actual news on it because the report and Mueller himself stated that there was no evidence to support Russian collusion by the president or any other American.
“He sought to thwart the Russia investigation and possibly obstruct justice without consequence.”
Apparently, in the eyes of the liberal based media, standing up for yourself and trying to prove that you didn’t commit treason is obstruction of justice. I don’t know of anyone in their right mind who wouldn’t want to prove their case if given the chance.
“Through the government, he has earned profits for his businesses without consequences.”
Once again, the exact opposite of this is true. If anything, Trump’s businesses have been hurt by his political office than helped, as many who are anti-Trump supporters have now refused to do business with him or the organizations that he oversees.
“He has blocked Congress’s ability to conduct oversight without consequence.”
Part of the natural process of our three-branch government is that not all three parts always work as closely together as they should. The executive branch, under every president in history, like its counterparts, is guilty of this as well. However, that is not to say that it is Trump alone who holds the stick. The members of the Department of Justice are people with their own minds and opinions after all.
And yes, some, such as Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, have made mistakes under Trump’s administration, not allowing oversight the access they should have been given. But it is no worse than what former attorney general Eric Holder did under Obama when asked about a gun-running situation that killed American citizens.
And yet, for whatever reason Trump is so disliked he can’t seem to do anything right in the eyes of the leftist driven media. At every turn, they promote such propaganda “without consequence.”
