Democrats Melt Down After Trump 2028 Hats Appear Online

President Donald Trump’s official website triggered an immediate meltdown on Thursday by rolling out new “Trump 2028” merchandise — a move that had Democrats and liberal pundits howling about threats to the Constitution.
The merchandise includes a $50 red hat reading “TRUMP 2028” and a $36 t-shirt emblazoned with the slogan “(Rewrite the Rules).” Eric Trump added fuel to the fire by sharing a link to the items on social media, sparking instant outrage.
Democrats quickly latched onto the gear as proof that Trump plans to ignore the 22nd Amendment, which limits U.S. presidents to two terms.
“Trump’s organization is out here selling Trump 2028 hats like the Constitution is just a suggestion,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) fumed. “Reminder: The 22nd Amendment exists. You can’t run for a third term.”
Fox News liberal commentator Jessica Tarlov warned that Trump’s “jokes” about running again were laying the groundwork for something serious. “With each ‘joke’ it becomes more and more serious,” she claimed.
Leftist Twitter exploded with accusations that Trump was “soft launching a fascist dictatorship,” with one user fretting, “So Americans are just gonna sit idly by and let a dictator take control?”
In a stunning twist of hypocrisy, some liberals floated the idea of Barack Obama running for a third term if Trump somehow changed the rules. Liberal activist Harry Sisson said, “If Trump wants to run for a third term, President Obama should consider coming out of retirement and doing the same.”
The 22nd Amendment, ratified after Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four-term presidency, officially capped the office at two elected terms. Until then, the two-term tradition was simply an informal precedent set by George Washington.
President Trump has previously joked about the idea of a third term, claiming in March that he was “seriously” looking into it — though most observers believe he’s mainly trolling his political enemies.
Earlier this year, a Republican congressman even floated an amendment to repeal the two-term limit, a move clearly designed more to trigger Democrats than to initiate serious legislative action.
Despite the hysterical reactions, there’s no sign that the Trump 2028 merchandise represents anything more than another masterclass in baiting the left — and judging by the meltdown, it’s working brilliantly.
