EVs Are So Unpopular That Car Thieves Don’t Want Them

Someone has finally found an upside to Kamala Harris’s electric vehicle (EV) mandate. If you own an EV, it will drastically reduce the chance that you will ever become a victim of car theft. It turns out that car thieves, much like the general public, want nothing to do with EVs!

Vehicle thefts have been rising steadily in America ever since Border Czar Kamala Harris left our southern border wide open. Illegal aliens and foreign gangs have been having a field day stealing cars, trucks, and SUVs from Americans. In 2023, they set an all-time high record by stealing 1,020,729 vehicles, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

However, the demand for EVs is so low that car thieves generally won’t touch them. Among all the stolen car stats in America, EVs are at the bottom of the list. Here are four of the bottom six cars that are least likely to be stolen:

  • Tesla Model 3 electric 4dr 4WD
  • Tesla Model Y electric 4dr 4WD
  • Tesla Model 3 electric 4dr
  • Ford Mustang Mach-E 4dr 4WD

The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid also made the list.

The most commonly stolen vehicle in America is the good old-fashioned, gas-guzzling Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. It’s more than 53 times as likely to be stolen as any other passenger car.

“Even the criminals can’t be bothered to steal them, and who can blame them,” says Power The Future Executive Director Daniel Turner.

While mocking Kamala Harris’s plans to force all Americans to drive EVs, Turner notes that a mandate would likely reduce stolen car rates. No one wants to bother stealing an EV because they’re confusing to drive and incredibly harmful to the environment and infrastructure.
